Term Information

Accession
GO:0140585
Name
promoter-enhancer loop anchoring activity
Ontology
molecular_function
Synonyms
enhancer-promoter loop anchoring activity
Alternate IDs
None
Definition
Bridging together two cis-regulatory elements, colloquially referred to as promoters and/or enhancers, holding two loop anchors together to maintain a chromatin loop. Source: PMID:32213323
Comment
Note that GO does not separately defines enhancers, since this concept is very close to that of cis-regulatory elements. However the literature refers to 'promoter-enhancer loops' to describe loops that bring together cis-regulatory elements. Note also that while SO defines 'promoter' as the core promoter, here it is used to mean a cis-regulatory element.
